New Home in SD

Today (10/31/2021) we motorsailed Mystic Star 44 NM down to its new home in Point Loma.

Winds were calm so we were under engine power the whole way.  We saw as few Sea Lions and lots of birds on the way down.

Of interest, we hooked up and tested 'George', the Autohelm 3000.  This made the trip MUCH more relaxing than the trip from Dana Point to Oceanside.  Just set the course and monitor how well George is doing...

The new home is a bit 'bouncy'.  The aft cleat on the pier was missing a horn when we arrived.... hopefully not a sign of what Mystic Star is in for.

Sailing Vessel Mystic Star- Under New Ownership

After a successful Survey (h/t to James E Thomas, Marine Surveyor) and Sea Trial, I am now the proud owner of Sailing Vessel 'Mystic Star' a 1987 C&C 30 Mark II (serial number 11).

The trip down from Dana Point to its temporary home in Oceanside was smooth.  We even had a welcome committee of dolphins on the way out of Dana Point Harbor.

.

After a few hours of motoring and a few hours of sailing on a broad reach, Dad and I reached Oceanside and celebrated the occasion:

New Porthole plexiglass

As a follow-up job to the Plexiglass replacement, I also received 3 porthole glass replacements for my Lewmar portholes in the aft cabin.  ...
